Responsibilty

When we are growing up we are taught to give, every Religion teaches us to give, the more we give the better we are as people. One of two things are perceived though by most people. Either a person feels and identifies giving as negative so they will not give anything at all to anyone. The other type of person sees giving as the right thing to do so they give and give but not to themselves. Unfortunately neither one is correct. The proper way to be is to have balance. A Person must give to others but only after the individual knows what they can reasonably afford to give without depriving or detracting from their own needs. So what is responsibility? It is one of the most feared concepts of society. We all tend to run from it as soon as we need it. There is also a big problem with the perception of what responsibility is. For many people it means doing what their superiors tell them. For others it's what people were taught growing up. For some there is no such thing as responsibility.
The true definition of responsibility is one who has balance between all physical and spiritual obligations, keeping everything afloat. Many of us make the mistake of selling ourselves short, cheating ourselves thinking we are being responsible. We tend to put ourselves last to satisfy the demands put on us by our superiors. Or we put ourselves first and everything else suffers. We become selfish; we do this because society says we must keep our job, credit in order, spouse and friends happy. We must definitely strive for these things; however there is a proper way to do it without becoming sucked into a vacuum. One must simply bring their assets to the environment they find themselves in. If there is no identifiable asset found then you are in the wrong place.
Remember who you are and why your here. This does not mean be selfish, it means take care of your obligations in a total healthy capacity with benefit to all parties involved. Do not cheat one part of your life to better another. Any healthy transaction between multiple parties must have a good outcome for all involved. This remedy will help your marriage, career and social structure. Responsibility creates real and total happiness. It is up to the individual to have proper balance and not expect others to regard his/her needs. It is proper however for one to consider another’s needs.  If you do not stand up for yourself you cannot expect anyone else to stand up on your behalf. Responsibility therefore begins with honesty to oneself without justification.
